Tegwen is an Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registered Psychologist.
She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology), a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours), and a Master of Professional Psychology.
Tegwen's clinical work has specialised in working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families in educational, forensic, disability, private practice, and Out of Home Care (OoHC) settings.
Tegwen provides a grounding, safe space to allow clients to share their experiences and concerns. She believes that growth occurs in relation to others and supports clients to use the therapeutic relationship as a teaching tool to deepen their self awareness and explore their interpersonal relationships. She supports clients to explore, express, and manage their anxiety, distress, and relationships.
In working directly with children, Tegwen encourages the expression of individuality and emotion; supports the processing of trauma; and encourages the development of self-image and identity. Alongside her work with children, she supports parents and families to develop, grow, and nurture the relationship between caregiver and child. Tegwen adopts a functional approach to challenging/complex behaviour and can provide parents psychoeducation and practical, solution focussed strategies to support the management of challenging behaviour.
Tegwen's unique approach to working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families is grounded in therapeutic modalities that include Play Therapy, Positive Behaviour Support, Trauma Informed Practice, Interpersonal Therapy, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Solution Focussed Therapy.
In her down time, Tegwen enjoys movement, activity, and adventure. She is an avid basketballer, hiker, and gym goer. Tegwen spends her weekends hiking with her pooch, Leo. Her downtime is usually spent reading on the couch or outdoors in nature.
