It is important to us that people are able to access a Psychologist and obtain effective support when they need it. Your time and the time of the Psychologist you work with at King Psychology, is valuable.
The very nature of psychological work requires a strong, consistent, therapeutic relationship for clients to explore challenges, build insight, and achieve therapeutic goals in an effective way. For this reason, should a cancellation occur it often is not ethical or feasible for us to fill it with a waitlisted client, who will not have access to ongoing sessions.
Therefore, our cancellation policy requires that any scheduled session you are unable to attend is charged at 100% of the session fee, payable prior to your next agreed upon session.
If you book a standard 50-minute consultation with a Psychologist you are responsible for the cost of this session in the event that you are unable to attend. The cost of this session is $240.
If you book an 100-minute assessment battery session you are responsible for the cost of that session in the event that you are unable to attend. The cost of this session is $480.
King Psychology will endeavour to fill any cancellation with an existing client who may be looking for additional support (in which case you would not be liable for the session fee), however; given we work closely with our clients to adequately pre-empt any additional psychological need, it should be noted that this is more an exception than a regular occurrence.
In circumstances where you are unable to attend the clinic, we may be able to negotiate moving a session to a Telehealth platform to facilitate attendance. This is at the full discretion of the Psychologist. Some sessions, including but not limited, to child work, parent/child work, or assessment battery sessions are unable to be moved to Telehealth due to the nature of the appointments.
Please note, Medicare Benefits are not payable on cancellations.
NDIS clients are an exception to the above policy. NDIS funded sessions require 7 days notice for any cancellation, in line with NDIS guidelines. If this is unable to be provided, the NDIS client will be liable for the full cost of the session.
