WHO WE WORK WITH

PEOPLE NAVIGATING LAYERED PSYCHOLOGICAL EXPERIENCES

Some people seek psychological support because their experiences feel layered, persistent, or difficult to name. This may include intersecting stressors, long histories of feeling misunderstood, or previous support that did not fully account for context. Psychological care focuses on developing a nuanced understanding of experience, reducing self-blame, and creating space for meaning, integration, and change.

People who come to us are often described as…

  • having overlapping mental health histories, shifting concerns, or multiple mental health conditions
  • referred for anxiety, depression, trauma, where standard approaches have not been helpful
  • cycling through services without feeling fully understood
  • being told their difficulties are “psychological” but haven't had the opportunity to adequate explore of context
  • seeking support that goes beyond symptom management
  • being “highly insightful” but still struggling

They may carry labels such as…

  • anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, separation anxiety, specific phobias, attachment disorders)
  • mood disorders (dysthmia, major depressive disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder [PMDD], bipolar disorders)
  • trauma-related diagnoses (acute stress disorder, adjustment disorder, post traumatic stress disorder [PTSD], complex post traumatic stress disorder [CPTSD])
  • mixed or "comorbid" presentations

These descriptions often reflect experiences that do not fit simple models, rather than something being inherently “wrong” with the person. Psychological care at King Psychology focuses on understanding distress in context — including internal experience, identity, and systemic pressures,  rather than reducing it to a label alone.
